I'm involved with a charity called Gawad Kalinga (or GK) - a Filipino word meaning "to give care". GK is involved in building housing for the poor in Philippines and in Papua New Guinea and is also involved in programs an various other countries. Previous events I've covered for them was the NSW Coronation for Miss GK, GK Harvest and my own trip to the Philippines to visit some of the GK villages on the GKYGAT Tour with 77 other Aussies. Last Sunday, about 40 plue people from GK, young and old went for a 14km run from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach to fundraise for the charity. Click to read more and see the pictures...

Model Quest is on again this year and the event is celebrating it's 5th anniversary this year. It's on the Saturday 11th of August and tickets can be bought from Marc (0415 672 304) or Carla (0433 760 325) @ $30 Prepaid or $35 at the Door at the Roundhouse at UNSW Kensington. Last night, Peace Love & Hope gave a performance at the Filipino restaurant/function place called Corregidor in Rooty Hill, Sydney.

GK Harvest came and went really fast. Congratulations on a successful event everyone! Great job GKOM! You can view the event photos at this gallery. GK Harvest is an event run by GK-Youth to promote Gawad Kalinga (English:"To Give Care") and showcase GK events and programs like Miss GK and GKYGAT. I was at the Vanguard in Newtown last Tuesday checking out Van Sereno's second CD release Persistence. There was a good turnout and the music was great. Check out Van's MySpace.
